Decorative Techniques

Sublimation Printing

Sublimation Printing

Using state of the art technology, U Design is able to apply this digital printing technique to bond dye into the fabric weave, allowing the ink to become part of the fabric. The result is a more breathable, soft-hand feel to the fabric. The printing does not fade or crack, and the most detailed images will print clearly.

Also known as ”allover printing”, sublimation allows you to create a design that can span from seam to seam. This means that the only limitation to your new garment design is the imagination!

Supply your own artwork or work with our experienced designer to custom design polos, hoodies, fleeces, jackets, hats
- well just about anything!

Vinyl Printing

Vinyl Printing

This heat transfer process uses a machine to cut out a design from pieces of coloured vinyl. The full image is then pieced together and pressed with heat to transfer the image to the ready made garment.

This is a quicker, more cost effective way to produce high quality images on smaller orders.

There is however, constraints on the size and placement of the design.

Screen Printing

Screen Printing

Screen printing (or silk screening) uses screens and inks to transfer an image onto a ready made garment.

Although a printing machine has replaced the traditional hand method, the concept is still the same. First a stencil is cut from the screen, then the ink is spread over the screen with a squeegee, passing through the screen on to the garment below. Only one colour may be used for each screen, so a design with multiple colours uses many screens.

As with vinyl printing, there are constraints on the placement of your designs.

Embroidery

Embroidery is a stylish method of customising ready made garments. It provides an extremely durable, vibrant imprint that will wash well.

Designs are limited in complexity and set up fees are applicable.
